Probably more than any other army in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, you really should know what you are getting yourself into before you decide to start an Orc and Goblin army. In the hands of an experienced player an Orc and Goblin army can be a brutal, if unpredictable, killing machine that wins many games. Until you gain the experience and know-how to get the most out of the army, however, it can seem exceedingly challenging. In addition, the army’s uniquely random nature demands a certain type of player mentality. Players like myself who love the Orc and Goblin army know what to expect and see it as one of the most exciting and fun to play armies in the game. Those who don’t know what to expect and don’t have the right mind-set can find the army frustrating.
To help you determine if Orcs and Goblins is the right army for you I’ve put together this basic overview of the army’s basic features. It doesn’t get into details about individual units or strategy as that’s the subject of future articles. Also, before you make your decision to become an Orc and Goblin player, you absolutely need to take a look at the army’s miniatures as it’s difficult to really enjoy playing an army if you don’t like how it looks. For that there’s no better place to start than Games Workshop’s official website. We will also be displaying images of player painted armies in our Gallery section if you’d like to take a look at those.
