The
great Warboss Grimjaw Kur Gan has lead the Ironfang
Tribe Orcs through victory and mis-adventure for years
now, since IC 2497 when Grimjaw first went to war with
just three units the tribe has grown slowly. Now
always accompanied by Shaman Hogbreff and a motley cast
of Bosses, Big Bosses and Shamans. The Ironfang
Tribe is most made up of Orc Boyz, though it does
include a few Giants, Trolls and a handful of Goblins.
During
the tribes recent campaigning in the Border Princes they
were divided into four different sized Warbands:
The mighty "Cleavermaws", the strong "Ogresuns",
the small "Rotmoons" and the very tiny
"Gloomwyrms". Each Warband acted as a
separate army during the campaign: moving through the
region, fighting anyone they met and generally creating
mischief and mayhem.
The
other armies in the region they faced were:
Four Warbands of Beasts of
Chaos known as "The Herd of the Dark Young"
(initially their arch-enemies and later closest allies),
Three Warbands of Witch Hunters known as "The
Company of Van Helsing", a Sigmarite Empire army
(Witch Hunters not being known for originality),
Two Warbands of Beasts of Chaos known as "Here Be
Monsters" (who strangely disappeared after beating
the Witch Hunters soundly), Four Warbands of High Elves
of "The Host of Tor Anrok" (who tended to
destroy themselves with powerful magicks but tried very
hard to undo the foul Beastmen's work and "do the
right thing").
Early
in 2503 the Herd of the Dark Young found a network of
tunnels and took the city of Malko without a fight by
bursting up from cellars and sewers to surprise the
citizens. The Company of Van Helsing were furious
about this and swore an oath to remove the blight upon
the poor town. They set up their capital in Aldium
and started planning a siege.
In
the freezing Winter of 2503 the Herd of the Dark young
pushed in on the Ironfang's northern border and fought
with the Cleavermaws, while the "Here be
Monsters" Beasts tried to cross the bridge over the
Thunder River. But the bridge was held by the
Ogresuns, including a large mob of Trolls and the
Goat-heads couldn't shift 'em. "Here be
Monsters" also battled the Company, though they won
the fight they took such heavy casualties that they
never really recovered, slowly fading away into the
darkness of the western woods.
In
the Summer of 2504 The Rotmoons fought-off a Shaggoth
that attacked their capital, incredibly it was a single
Night Goblin arrow that brought the beast down!
Soon after they almost rebelled over the dreadful
quality of food they were being given, but the Shaman
leading the Warband knocked a few heads together and organized
a "Malko Refugee Barbeque" to cheer them up.
By
Autumn 2504 the Gloomwyrms had quietly sneaked about the
land claiming territory for the Tribe, so they were
easily the largest empire in the region. The dark
Young had infected Malko with The Green Plague and
retreated into the woods, abandoning the city of Malko
to its slimy fate. Strange lights were seen in the
night skies above the Elven city and rumor grew that a
terrible self-induced catastrophe had befallen them.
The Herd of the Dark Young suffered a humiliating defeat
at the hands of the Ironfang's Cleavermaws and Ogresuns,
the terms for their release from certain death favored
the Ironfangs heavily and included the handing-over of
all Dark Young lands east of the Thunder River and South
of the Old Silk Road.
In
the Spring of 2505 the Sigmarites re-took Malko with a
strong force of Warrior Priests, and cleansed the
populace of the Plague. They also spent a lot of
time and effort repairing the cities defenses,
unfortunate for the Ironfangs since they had crossed the
Thunder River and gathered in force in the woods east of
Malko, building siege towers, battering rams and
ladders.
By
the time Summer 2505 rolled around the High Elves had
moved close to Malko in support of their new allies, The
Company. Van Helsing's men had gathered all their
strength behind the city's walls and even hired a
Mercenary Warband to assist the defense. Grimjaw
decided that with the disappearance of the Dark Young,
the renewed strength of the Men combined with the Elves
was not as interesting a prospect as the gathering storm
in the north. So the tribe turned north and
started the long trek toward Blackfire Pass and Sylvania
