| If you
would like to contribute content to this site (whether it's an
article, artwork, miniature gallery, a resource, a suggestion for
a web-link) we'd be happy to consider it! However, although this
is a fan website and I'm not pretending to be a professional
writer myself (or even a particularly good one!), I do want to
keep the content offered on this site to at least a minimum
standard of quality. Here are some guidelines to help your
chances of getting your content published on Warpath:
1) UNIQUE CONTENT: This mainly
has to do with articles and resources. Obviously, if you are
sending in a suggestion for a link or are considering sending in a
file resource that you've discovered somewhere please make sure it
isn't already on the website first. If you are sending in an
article or a guide please look through our article library and be
sure that your article offers something unique even if it's just
your unique opinion. It's fine to have many articles all
dealing with the same subjects, for example army construction, as
long as no two say basically the same things with different
wording.
2) WE ONLY ACCEPT ARTICLES / GUIDES
WRITTEN BY YOU: Please do not send in articles that you read
somewhere else that are written by another author. I will
not post other people's work without the express permission of the
author. If you really, really like the article and would really
like to see it on this site try to contact the author and ask
him/her to submit it. I will not post articles written by
others even if told by the sender that the author "told me it
was OK" because there's no way to reliably prove that.
3) MINIMUM STANDARD OF WRITING: I'm
not a professional writer myself nor am I anywhere near a
professional editor. This is a fan site after all. I would,
however, like to keep at least a minimum level of article
quality. After reviewing a newly submitted article I may
make suggestions for improvement if I feel they are
necessary. Please be open to constructive criticism.
Also please run a spell checker. If an article is too badly
written to save or if it doesn't offer anything unique I reserve
the right to reject it.
4) WHEN WRITING YOUR ARTICLE KEEP YOUR
TOPIC AND AUDIENCE IN MIND: When writing your article
please stick to your topic and know which audience your writing
for. By sticking to your topic I mean nobody likes reading
long, long articles. Try to keep your article as focused and
as straight to the point as possible and don't include anything
that doesn't support your topic. As far as the audience goes it of
course is going to be for Orc and Goblin players but is the
article for new players, experienced players, or for every
player?
5) BATTLE REPORTS: I would
love, love, love to get battle reports from other Orc and Goblin
players out there! I love reading them and I know others out
there do too. Your battle reports can be all text if you
want or, if you know how and really want your battle report to get
noticed, we'd love to see movement diagrams and/or some images of
your minis during the battle. It is not necessary for you to
do the HTML work as I can and will take care of that. I
will, on the articles page, have a way to identify which BPs are
text and which ones include pictures and diagrams. You can
write the battle reports in the style that they do in White Dwarf
Magazine (where you have a pre-game battle plan written by each
player, a summary of each turn's events either written by the
player whose turn it is or in an objective manner and a post-game
summary) or you can write the BP as a story. Just a few
things though: 1)The BP must be entertaining. I don't need
BPs of boring battles. I don't need BPs where you are
playing some inexperienced player and you stomp him or her into
the dust with no challenge. People don't like reading reports like
that and I don't either. 2) It is OK to send in BPs where the Orc
and Goblin side loses as long as it's entertaining. The
result doesn't even have to be close to be entertaining to
read. If your battle turned out to be a spectacular massacre
it's fine as long as it's entertaining to read.
One last note, with regard to images and
diagrams. I reserve the right to resize them (to save space)
or to not use some or all of them (to save space and/or if the
image doesn't add anything to the article).
6)NO PROFANITY: This is a no-brainer
but it needs to be said. I will immediately reject any
article that has swearing or profane content in it. I want
this site to be safe to read for people of all ages. Don't
assume that all readers of this site are adults. There are
many teens that play this game (and play it well I might add!)
7)GALLERY SUBMISSIONS: First off I
will only accept art and miniature images from the person who made
them. Do not send in images of other people's art or
miniatures. All art and miniature images must be sent to me
via email in JPG or GIF format (whichever one has the smaller file
size to save space). It is OK to send multiple images
of the same model if you are particularly proud of how it came out
but I reserve the right to chose which to publish. In the
interests of saving server space I may publish the best one(s). I
also reserve the right to resize the image, once again to conserve
usage of server space. One thing to keep in mind: The
gallery isn't a contest so don't be discouraged about sending in
images if you don't feel they are "better" than
others. If you feel you did a good job and are proud of your
work feel free to show it off!
Also I may use your image
submissions, in whole or in part, for illustrative purposes in
other articles on the website. I do this in order to help make the
site more visually interesting without using too many official
Games Workshop images. If you object to your images being
possibly used as illustrations in other articles please say so in
your email.
8) I CAN AND PROBABLY WILL REVISE THESE
CONDITIONS WITHOUT NOTICE: That's pretty self-explanatory.
9) GETTING A REPLY FROM ME ABOUT YOUR
SUBMISSION: This is a fan website. I don't make any money from
this website. This website is basically a hobby, which is
written about a hobby. Like any hobby it is done in spare
time. Thus you will have to be very patient about getting a reply
to any email or content submission. It may be days or even a week
or more before I can get back to you depending on what's going on
in my real life at that point in time.
